Kratka vsebina projekta:

Hybrid Lab Network (HYBRID) is an exploratory project to promote innovation and good practices for Higher Education (HE) bridging areas of Art, Science, Technology/Engineering and Humanities, and fostering knowledge sharing and training. HYBRID objectives are: a) to promote excellence in teaching and skills development in HE, linking education with research and innovation, fostering open, innovative and entrepreneurial HE; b) to promote the teaching and learning partnerships with international public and private sector partners; c) to enhance the experience of international cooperation, strengthening capacities in interdisciplinary learning/teaching of all partner institutions. HYBRID aims to upgrade the work carried out by the individual partners – two excellent HE Institutions (Slovenia e Denmark), a world class Research Institute (Portugal), and an outstanding Foundation (Netherlands) -, giving it a strong EU dimension. The transnational consortium aims to promote reflection processes and real action over what should be HE for the future: innovation, autonomy, curricular flexibility, and collaborative and sustainable approaches. Tackling the 4 Cultures (Arts, Sciences, Engineering/Technology, Humanities) and 3 Sectors (Academia, Research, Society) it will address great challenges pointed out by OECD’s Education 2030, and also targets the new EU agenda for HE – addressing the profile of student/researcher/citizen/worker, and the skills HE should provide them. HYBRID will implement a multidisciplinary approach to improve STEAM training, particularly in biosciences, including the development of didactic tools and resources to promote critical and creative thinking, and innovation. The two selected field-specific priorities for the project are: a) promoting and rewarding excellence in and skills development; b) tackling skills gaps and mismatches. In that sense, some actions are planned to encourage training of academics and the exchange of good practices, namely in innovative pedagogies, including multi-disciplinary approaches, new curriculum design, and delivery methods. These will happen through activities ranging from 2 short-term events for joint training of staff and 5 intensive study programs, to 4 transnational meetings and 4 Multiplier Events (ME). The project will last for 3 years, time necessary to consolidate experimental teaching/learning methodologies, and in coherence with the objectives of the project and the activities (4 IO, 7 LTTA, 4 ME) to be implemented. Activities were intentionally programmed to explore, produce and test innovative IOs, (Joint Training of Staff and Intensive Training for teachers, students and invited teachers, including other citizens in open calls) while other activities are intrinsic to manage productivity and risks and to access quality. Furthermore, a communication plan will cover dissemination activities to increase impact. The consortium will build a collaborative platform (IO1) – online structure for cooperation and co-production, and STEAM Open Information Repository for HEIs materials. HYBRID will use the results being produced by the Intellectual Outputs (IO1- platform and IO2 – Learning/teaching/Training materials (LTTA), educational kit, guidelines for modules) into the short-term event of joint training of staff (LTTA 1) and LTTA 2 and 3 (staff and students). Results from these activities will feed the basis for the Course/Curriculum development (Pilot Course/Module for teachers, and guidelines to be applied to different contexts/audiences – IO.3). Then, they will be consolidated at LLTA 4 (staff only). This action research collaborative methodology is structured in a chain of events making one action the leverage for the next one(s). Thus, the rationale for the number of activities is embedded in the structure and methodology that is the framework for the project (e.g. after research and exploratory activities, outcomes will be inserted back through LTTAs 5, 6 and 7 into three specific fields of education – humanities, Science/Engineering and Arts). The compiled experiences will be assembled in an open access ebook (IO4) that will be useful for the partners but also for third party entities (universities, cultural associations, partner schools). At the end HYBRID will increase the course-modules offer of each participant institution and grant the development of new technical and digital competences in ca. 500 participants (educators, students and citizens) through programed activities, such as Summer School, Biohacking Academy, Workshops, Seminars and Intensive Study Programs. Other expected relevant results are: a) wider experience in cooperative work, multidisciplinary and multicultural teams; b) develop relevant collaborative methodology to apply to areas of the STEAM and Humanities. This will have an impact on the training policies at the member institutions, allowing the spillover effect to reflect at third party institutions.
